Seven Mississippi artists receive Lifetime Achievement Awards

Between the 22nd Annual Juke Joint Festival last weekend and the upcoming release of This is Earnest “Guitar” Roy on May 9th, we’ve had Mississippi on our minds this month! We thought this was the perfect time to honor a few of the artists and promoters who have helped keep Mississippi’s blues heritage alive in Clarksdale, MS – and beyond.
Music Maker Foundation is proud to introduce our newest Lifetime Achievement Award recipients:
Anthony “Big A” Sherrod
Earnest “Guitar” Roy, Jr.
Trenton Ayers
Roger Stolle (Cat Head Blues)
Jimmy “Duck” Holmes
Kinchen “Bubba” O’Keefe (Visit Clarksdale)
Randy “19th Street Red” Cohen
Our Lifetime Achievement Awards recognize the lifelong musical contributions of artists and others who are committed to the vocation (and not just the profession) of the American roots musician. Meet our Spring 2025 cohort of Mississippi awardees in the slideshow below.
Your support makes it possible for us to give back to pathbreakers like our Lifetime Achievement Awardees, whose work contributes so much to our cultural heritage. Please consider making a donation to our Sustenance Program today so we can continue supporting the unsung heroes of American music. Together, we can keep this music playing for generations to come.
