A note from Tim on the Passing of Chris Strachwitz
We are saddened to learn of the passing of a great man, Chris Strachwitz.
I first met Chris while attending the Sounds of the South Conference in Chapel Hill in 1988, while I was getting my master’s in folklore at UNC Chapel Hill. He stocked our Music Maker Recordings at his Arhoolie Store, and I would often meet up with him in North Carolina, as his sister lived nearby. His incredible work was an inspiration to me, and it was an honor to be encouraged by him.
